ANTI NOWHERE LEAGUE TO PLAY CLWB IFOR BACH

I Forgot the most exciting news of the year - The League have announced they are finally playing in Cardiff on October 16th in Clwb Ifor Bach. I have so far been unable to get tickets for this vital gig, but I will keep trying on their website at http://www.clwb.net/main.cfm?listings_date=01/10/2005

Also try www.antinowhereleague.com

I knew all those emails to animal weren't wasted!

I can't wait - it'll be the greatest gig since the Damned played with Rat Scabies in the Patti!

Don't fuck with the League!

Lack of blogging caused by too much work, experts confirm

Argh - I've only been back 3 days and I need another holiday! What with everything conspiring to make my life more complicated and all!

Still off to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tonight, which Al is leading aone man hate campaign against of such magnitude that I'm surprised he hasn't pursued innocent cinema goers, forced them to the floor and shot them 7 times in the head at point blank range accusing them of "film terrorism" by watching Jonny Depp and Tim Burton remake the allegedly perfect Gene Wilder 1971 version. He's an odd man. (entertaining blog entry about yours truly www.attemptedmustache.blogspot.com)

Guthrie is coming down this weekend, and we are going to a toy fair on sunday in Cardiff,to get some junk signed by Tessek (Squid head to you and me) and "Mon Cal Officer". Can you beat it?

Probably. Still the prospect of seeing the stunted hunchbacked Phil Harris-a-like is a strong motivating factor!

Ebay Warhammer Sale Update

£185.08 in case you were anxious to know. 1 day left on most of the items, 3 days on some other. We're in the money....

People on Ebay will buy anything!

Happy Birthday to me..

The coolest presents I have had for a while. I haven't seen the High Life for years, yet it has become an institution. Guthrie will be highly amused. I will report once I have watched/played them. Thanks babe (Cath, not Guthrie. That would be gay)

Then came the rains....

Sometimes I wonder if my cats have brains. First Lenin got completely soaked, then Roxy kept running out into the pissing rain, coming back in, then going back out again and wondering why she was getting wet. Retards.

Beach BBQ Anyone?

Saturday 23rd July 2005

Today was the day of the propsed beach BBQ. I was determined to do this no matter how bad the weather. First we spent until 2:30 recovering from the night before with MANY cups of tea. Then a trip to Govindas for the most insanely filling meal of our lives following. After concentrating to avoid being sick, we made a short trip to Tescos to stock up on food for the barbie that at that time we really didnt want. The rain held off and at 8:30, with tent and supplies, we made our way down to the beach, after almost deciding to have the barbie outside Bargain Booze in Uplands. Neither Matt, Andy, Cath or I were hungry, which came as a bit of a shock to Al and Taz, so we didnt light the BBQ until gone 10 PM. We did make a lush fire though and the tent enabled us to stay in the leigh of the wind. I forgot a torch. Difficult to do several things without one:

1) cook anything

2) tell if meat is done

3) take any photos that don't come out like the one above (looking like a Cure album cover)

4) not burn veggieburgers

5) put a tent up

6) gather firewood

7) find a bottle opener

8) see where sand has got to (probably for the best)

9) take a piss (for girls especially)

10) take tent down.

The wind also failed to help in this.

Nevertheless we enjoyed a good barbeque and managed to ram most of the food down our throats (and most of the booze), before it started spitting with rain and we retired to the tent for a few hours of farting, uncomfortably close man resting, andy's gayness, sand, and Al getting a "really big bug" on his hand. Great night. Then we had to walk back up the hill. Sunday morning my calves were so stiff I could barely walk. The tent is still full of sand.

FACE OFF

Friday 22nd July 2005

Andy and Matt came down for my birthday, Guthrie couldn't make it due to a school trip and a knackered car unfortunatey, but we had a laugh. Face Off was the shittest night in there ever for music - only in the last half hour did they play any good songs, after tormenting me with FOUR (!) Kaiser Shits songs. Then they played beverly Hills, Buddy Holly, Last Night and they did play Just Like Heaven at one point. In the metal room they redeemed years of pantsness by playing Walk (Pantera) and Enter Sandman and Poison (yes, Alice Cooper). Even so it was a bit pants. My downfall came when they started playing House of Pain's jump around. No sooner had "where's Andy?" (yes it does) passed Matt's lips than he leapt upon us and made us jump around in a circle. Fun, I hear you cry. Unfortunately we had just spent the previous 3 minutes jumping around to buddy holly. I swear that during the next 3 minutes my right lung collapsed and my calf muscles melted. Indeed my calves, back and neck are Still in pain and its monday! Still, avoided the traditional saturday hangover.

Claire and Arwel

The lighting in the Tav makes them look yellow! A enjoyable evening trying to chat above the feedback. Now, I must get around to see their new flat...

One Size Fits All

Wednesday 20th July 2005

As I have failed to blog for a fair while there is a lot to catch up on. Wednesday we met Claire and Arwel and Al and Taz at the Uplands Tav to listed to Claire's brother's band, One Size Fits All (crap name, but at least they have one!) play. Cath and I had heard them a couple of times and had borrowed a demo CD. To be fair they are pretty good, all excellent musicians and a great vocalist in Deviant. They only slight problem is that even though they have plenty of their own material it seems as if they are trying to be someone else, but cannot decide who. The set roams between Greenday covers and Greenday-esque original songs, to Metallica-esque songs to lighter jangley almost-pop with a song about Tequila. The ill-advised cover of Sittin on the dock of the bay is also one to avoid, but overall they are an enjoyable band to listen to. Most impressively, during their rendition of the Foo Fighters' Break Out, a FF fan was really going for it singing along oin a FF T Shirt and beanie - whilst enjoying a nice glass of white wine! Genius.

EBay Warhammer

The time has come to flog my remaining Warhammer and 40K stuff via the medium of EBay!

Bye bye Chaos Dwarves, Space Wolves, Imperial Guard etc etc etc!

Hopefully get a bit of cash in as well - you never know!

I think I might paint some more stuff in the meantime though. If you want to buy any let me know!

Langland Beach Picnic

With my Mum and Sister down we decided to go for a picnic at Langland. Now as you can imagine, a picnic with me is no simple matter. I decided on Gazpacho soup, stuffed tomato salad (stuffed with cous cous) and a fresh fruit salad for dessert. Taking all these liquidy items up and down steep hills was fun in bowls covered with clingfilm but nothing leaked surprisingly. The food was great - Cath's fruit salad ver impressive I must delegate more ofter. The Gaspacho was also good, although I might put some chilli in next time - Al would doubtless have complained about it being bland. Check out the rocks for tables though!

Cheese and Wine!

Saturday saw our long planned cheese and wine party courtesy of the School Social Fund and Charlies Delicatessen in Uplands (and Simon my Cheesemonger). An excellent night attended by lots of students and staff - its a shame some missed out! Even better I got loads of goodies including my favourite cheeses, biscuits, breadsticks, vine leaves and stuffed peppers - so much so that I had to empty my fridge before I could get it all in!
Pity I forgot to take any more pics really!

L'eau de Corps

Not sure what French is for sweat, but this seems close enough.

I have discovered that my legs are unusually sweaty, and my top lip has been sweating a lot also. I never want to redecorate again, but sadly now we have the garden to do and the hallways and landing. Oh joy.

The Cheese and Wine party is this weekend, and I have invited my mother down for a bit of double booking trouble, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Now I have squash, band practice and house tidying tonight to keep me occupied.

I 'm sure I had an interesting post but now I forget - damn heat.

Get ready for party weekend 22nd July onwards!

Few bits from my dealer

Am skint after A-Wing, but fortunately Alex is keeping my habit alive by drip feeding me. The long awaited 3D night lights, some more 'Darth Vadar Lives' merchandise and free German stickers!

Truly the best dealer there is!

Decorating

I. HATE. TEXTURED. WALL. FUCKING. PAPER.

Took us (mostly Cath as I was glossing - surprising the less onorous task) two sodding days to finish one wall! Bastard. In the heat as well.

Done now though and looking good. Will take some pics once I put the mirror up. I say me, what I mean is my Dad naturally. I don't want a job with a drill.

PS - I'm getting profiled for Prospects HE support suppliment (ooooh!) - more when it happens.

Pirates of Swansea

Upon hearing of my transvesticism, Suzie decided that I needed earrings. Coogan reckons I look like a pirat - I reckon more of a vile chav. Damn you Mongolians.

Its far too hot....

Lenin, Roxy and I spent yesterday lazing around because we couldn't take the heat (and the fire was hot also) . I was forced to take a day off by virtue of lack of sleep and feeling like crap, but managed to finish painting the bedroom so we could move back in and get a beter nights sleep.

Lenin was so hot, she couldn't be bothered to play fish, only feebly managing to drag it to this point before having to lie down for a while.

Phrase of the weekend? Tres Chaud.

Fan Club building

I'm planning to visit Swansea on Friday, I hope everyone is as cool as you guys/girls! (I have also spoken to Phil Maull and I have to say he was the most helpful and enthusiastic admission tutor I've spoken to yet)

http://www.medschoolguide.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=13999&page=3&pp=10

Scrabble - round 2

I win! Basically on the 57 point word "quake" on a triple word score. By 1 point. Victory is mine!

Goa my ass....

Now we see what Richey Manic is doing. The question is, what is so advanced about it? Does he comer round before a leak starts? Or just demand payment up front?

Bombing

Following the terrible bombings in London the University campus has been sealed off and we are waiting for further instructions - after already evacuating once!

Further news when available.

Jo, Sof and Phil are in Australia and Elly is ok - scare over.

ARGH!

Bored at work but I can't look at many of the websites I usually frequent as I will end up spending money!

www.ebay.co.uk
www.seetickets.com
www.amazon.co.uk

Should be going to see Revenge of the Sith for the sixth time though!

Seabiscuit!

Not sure why I've titled this seabiscuit - but it reminded me of riding Kylie. The sea has a cool machine gun effect down Mumbles way - difficult to capture in a still but I had a go (and nearly threw my PDA into the sea by accident when I slipped on some moss).

Pizzas at Al and Taz's

FOUR pizzas! Thats almost one pizza each! Except one was meaty. Wow. Plus plenty of beer and cider. AND some salad - albeit with slightly odd (but free) lettuce from their eccentric landlord (he is Italian). It wasn't nasty so much as hairy. I think it would have been nicer wilted slightly. The rocket was good though. Go Lidl!

PS - not sure why Taz seems to be impersonating MIchael Jackson (the dance moves, not the ALLEGED strangeness)

View from Mumbles head

For this view, yes, it was worth the climb!

And we had pringles and dip on top as well. If only I'd remembered to bring plastic glasses for the cider.

Steps to ...... ?

Steps. Many steps. Legs aching. Was it worth it?

Iced Vader

Birthday cake for Al? Not in the same league as Shrek I admit.

A Wing

...and again. Lush. Shall I display it in the box or on top?

I hope it fits in the cabinet(!)

Ohhhhhh baby!

Presentation!

I had to give a presentation to a load of sixth formers - they were getting a bit tetchy as it was running on and it was lunchtime, but it went well enough and we got enough plugs in for the BSc Med Sci and Humanities.

Some quite cute girls though ;-)

Oh yeah - Cath's blog!

http://holidaymonkey.blogspot.com/

Very pink - like a milkshake...

Cath's smoothie!

MILK ME!

This is the only way I can imagine Cath's smoothie cost so much:

The bananas were hand picked by the resurrected corpse of Pope JP II in the Bahamas and imported by antique gondola.

The strawberries were plucked from the mouths of Bjorn Borg and John MacEnroe in the middle of the final set of an epic match.

The milk was obtained by the current (lady handed) Pope hand milking 1000 rare baby opossums in the dead of night, using a rare breed of grappling spider to ascend the trees (which also spin a web if he falls a la Spiderman - well, he IS the Pope).

The flavour was NOT natural from the fruit, but was specially manufactured by a rare bat named Jeff, who lives in an inacessible cave in Nepal and practises alchemy. He still can't turn lead into gold though.

I expect the blender used was one of those really expensive Braun ones with the set of vacuum sealable boxes as well - probably in stainless steel.

Thusly did a miniature smoothie cost £2.95 in the Plan.

The Courgette and Mint soup is wicked though.

Coffee Cesso Star Wars snacks!

Wicked! Didn't have any though - most sounded horrible.

I would have suggested "Java the Hutt" however.

Things learned this weekend:

1. Sony Erikssons use filenames for photos that PCs can't read by including brackets. Doh.

2. Gary is a complete gimp when drunk (which we knew anyway).

3. Persia is (or was) near the Caspian sea. Which is by Russia and Iran (now theres an axis of evil for you). Persia was, I believe, conquered by Alexander the Gay.

4. The guys from the Woodville fish bar are brothers, from Persia, and speak three languages. Also they used to live in England but prefer Wales.

5. JML 'magic erasers' are not, in fact, magical at all. It does nothing to dispel dragons and failed to remove the stain from my floor. It did mildly remove some of the mould from my grouting.

6. Greg is lame at table football.

7. Kings of Leon are quite dull live.

8. The 'Rescue Lance' mission on GTA Vice City is near impossible.

9. Worms 3D is the hardest game ever made.

10. Rampage does have an end - but there are 769 levels first!

11. Sporttalk radio is total bollocks.

The Lobster Touch

Stroke of luck with this pic - album cover beckons!

Odd how all my band names have a sealife connection - lets not forget the Eighth Leg.

Published propoerly!

Thanks to other Claire and David for suggestions and contributions!

Now, does anybody actually read the thing?!

Kings of Leon - 2nd July 2005

I'd say they sucked balls, but they weren't bad exactly, just not that great. They didn't seem all that bothered, most of the songs didn't seem to work as well indoors, and crowd interaction was almost nil. Also, they seem to have got totally arrogant (Datsuns style) and really not that bothered about the music - I mean they sound fine, but there was not emotional involvement. Also, it reminded me how all their songs sound very similar.

Sure there were some highlights, like Holy Roller Novocaine and California Waiting, but even these failed to liven up a fairly turgid setlist. The Bucket was briefly uplifting, but overall it was a bit of a lame gig - although having Weezer and Audioslave as lead up gigs did them no favours either. Maybe I'm getting a bit cynical, but also people who obviously aren't fans and go just to hear the singles and then go mental, but don't even know any other songs piss me off.

On a brighter note, I got me an artoo to customise, and discovered that Lungfish, as Al has long been saying, are actually really rather good.

The end for Picasa?

oooooooh - does this new Blogger feature spell the end for Picasa?! We can but hope!

Now you can wrap text around the picture like never before! yay!

Ultimately this makes little difference.

AUDIOSLAVE - Brixton Academy 20th June 2005

Finally a good photo - not including centring of Chris's Knob.

A cover of Coldplay's "yellow"? Fuck no!

Group photo!

Darkened Cornell.

Morello guitar wank. This is how its done Mart.

More Audioslave

Jump! Cornell is a closet Van Halen fan - or Slipknot

Well done Cath (2)

I'm such a great bloke. Look at the way i got Star Wars into this photo.

Well done Cath!

Cath got her 2:1 and met the minimum entry requirements to live in this flat. Obviously I will need to see documentary evidence to confirm this.

In the meantime, she has developed a Jeremy Beadle arm and no sense of perspective as she reaches for the pepper grinder.

Muh.
