I have been studying Judge John Deed in preparation.....

Cycling progress

Well after several days of 20KM on the exercise bike I figured I'd better get out and test my SPDs (not Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). I had previously done a 13 mile ride one evening in the rain and found some interesting and somewhat hilly routes - I figured I might as well get used to cycling up bastard sized hills early on. Yesterday I managed a 19 mile route and found out (rather accidentally) where Bishoptstone, Murton and Newton are. Sadly it was pitch black and rather chilly so the coastal path routes will have to wait.

Today I suffered my first minor spill after deciding the bit of cleared ground in Singleton park (where rapists used to hide it seems) looked good for a bit of gentle off roading. What I hadn't banked on were the stream running through the middle and the boggy ground around it. Needless to say as I turned away from the stream I hit some nice 10" deep much with shot me right over the handlebars - forunately my hands intercepted the mud first to avoid me looking like Sof. No hard done just very muddy feet and slight embarassment witnessed, luckily, by no one.

Once I get thins clean - and work a few minor rattles out of my transmission, I should be set up for the next ride.

Matt has signed up for this ride in Herefordshire - 75KM off road, in June, which I will also be signing up for. We also plan a 2-day route out near Martin in surrey, as prep for the big one, which hopefully will happen in august sometime.

No, I still havent finished my dissertation, although I will start posting progress reports etc here.

Cycling around Wales? Are you mental?!

Yes very probably. I was reading the guide book yesterday and noticed things like "one of the toughest climbs of the whole route over 7 miles..."

Luckily it might be a bit different going the other way, but there is apparently a 15 mile descent coming North-South, so if we go South-North this implies something of a 15 mile clime. Joy.

Then again, you don't get great views on the flat I guess.

I will be joining the gym shortly and ramping up my cycle time as soon as this damn wind drops.

I have now invested in SPDs and shoes and some other gear so it better all be worth it!

5-a-side

We are officially shit. A 9-1 defeat to the first years and I think I played pretty well - well enough to be asked to play for another team anyway - sadly we lost that game 11-4 I was flagging a bit at the end.

I do have a weird fluid filled swelling on my elbow though.

Gillian McKeith

My god I hate her with a passion. Not because of her odd turd fixation but mostly because she wastes so much food and tells us everything is bad for us. Well I'm not fat and I like milk so fuck you you Scottish whore (and I like Scottish people so this is used in its factual sense not a derogatory one).

Bitch.

School of Medicine MDU Charity Shield 2007

Apart from the fact that the ersatz Champions the first years have managed to lose the trophy - and in my view should be stripped of it and the prize going to the runners up, the event was a great success.

Well it pissed it down, not many people braved the weather to watch and only 5 staff made it to Chicago Rock for the Social, but other than that.

A full report will follow but the STAFF came second - we only conceded one goal in a 1-0 defeat to the eventual champions the first years, and that through a mistake at the back rather than any talent on their part. We drew 0-0 with the second years, who thrashed us 4-0 last year, and then repeated our 1-0 victory over the third years thanks to a 25-yard screamer from Owen Bodger.
Next year - victory will be mine!

Thanks to everyone who took part and turned out in the rain to play or watch - there aren't any photos unfortunately so I can't ever be called tardy with my photo blogging. Personally I blame Sam and Mel.

Swansea Medical School MDU Charity Shield Tournament 2007

Tomorrow is the Charity Shield Tournament. Despite months of training and preparation, a bigger, more experienced and more talented squad and a proper kit I am still a bit worried that we are going to get trounced. I want that shield this time though....

Report will be up as soon as I write it - will undoubtedly take longer if we lose though

Bike pictures

As promised in November!

Christmas with Lenin and Roxy

Lenin laid an early claim to all the presents - and an even earlier one to the catnip by nicking it and ripping it open two days early.

We knew it was nearly Christmas when Roxy initiated the annual lets play in the tunnel again now it's Christmas game.

Roxy was excited about the prospect of a new scratchpost...particularly after we had laced it with catnip....

...so she didn't bother waiting to unwrap it she just climbed in through the paper.

Lenin was too lazy to haul her fat ass through so we pulled the rest of the paper off.

They liked the catnip...

A lot...

Swindon and Fantasy League update

Swindon have slipped slightly but are still holding firm in 4th Place and just 1 point off 2nd. With Walsall stuttering recently there have been chances to close the gap (now down to 6 points), but Swindon have been unable to capitalise.

Thanks to Ronaldo's recent goalscoring run and Robin van Persie's brace I have pulled clear of the chasing pack, now led by Jimmy. I am also now 2 goals clear in the golden boot. There is still plenty of time left for things to go wrong however - although I have finally drafted in a Liverpool defender to tighten up at the back.

New Blogger

Sorry I haven't been Blogging much - to the point that they have changed things and I have only just found out! Maybe it will be better who knows.

I will post some stuff soon - I have just about completed a draft of my Introduction for my MA though.
