Me+internet+boredom = madness

ARRRRGGHHHHH surely people know not to leave me alone with an internet connection whilst bored!

Now I've just spent another £160 on Ebay. BALLS. And from the States as well, so that a hefty VAT and import bill.

Oh well - its only money!

More additions to La Musee

More items coming soon - check this space!

Ebay final update #2

Sold all but 3 lots in the last month. Combined PROFIT now stands at £653.19!

Despite the massive Ebay Seller and PayPal fees, I managed to offset the worst of this by increased postage costs - although even my exhorbitant levels failed to cover two items! Jees. What is the world coming to.

Still, its some handy cash.

I am painting up my remaining Imperial Guard, which I may or may not sell.

It's all an excuse for not starting my essay, which Ireally must make a start on tonight - Italian metallers notwithstanding.

Still no sign of ANL tickets.

Blackpool 0 - 0 Swindon Town

Another thriller. At least Swansea lost again.

Arsenal, as I am sure you know, were yet again defeated by lucky lucky Chelski. How the worm turns.

Swindon update

Really should blog these on the match day but...

Saturday 13th August

Swindon Town 2 - 0 Nottingham Forest

Rory Fallon and Sean O'Hanlon those mighty players (who?) scored for the Robins, leaving us in the giddy heights of 19th place after 3 games.

Next up Blackpool, former haunt of former Town Manager Steve ginger and bald MacMahon

(Or Kung Po MacMahon)

On a better note, the gunners got off to a fairly decent start in the post Vieira era (my god thats hard to say), but beating Newcastle 2-0, although they elft it late with an henry Penalty and Freddie Ljungberg special in the last 10 minutes. To be fair Given played a blinder and Jenas was sent off slightly harshly for a tackle on Silva. Pity those bastard Chelski scumbags fluked it against the mighty Wigan though. (Now who looks like a mongol Cath!)

More Star Wars ....

Wow Alex has really outdone himself this time - and we haven't even got that big collection yet!

My Sand People (!) is lush - despite the Gay-FA grading. At least they give you a nice case for the obscene amount they charge!

Currently making just over £48. Should pay for some of my spending.

Swindon Town

This will be the start of a new thread following the downs and downs of Swindon Town, the Greate(wor)st football team in the world!

So far we have played 2, lost 2 and are bootom of the league.

2-0 to Barnsley and 3-2 to Oldham.

Good start.

Still after selling our top scorer for the past 2 seasons "super" Sammy Parkin, we're probably in line for another struggle. Great!

August - the dead month?

I don't know where this whole idea of August being a dead month where everyone is quiet comes from - although probably because everyone decides to fuck off on holiday making it three times as hard to get any of the masses of work the rest of us have done.

It would be nice to think that I could have a holiday - hah! I'd like to see that happen.

God I'm bored. And tired.

What about shooting innocent civilians in the head? Is that any different to blowing them up?

Fame? Fortune? Fingers? French?

I'm getting profiled in Graduate Prospects non-academic HEI jobs - I didn't even know there was one!

Administering medicine

Nine months of temping brought Phil Maull to his current job of administrator of the Graduate Entry Programme in Medicine at Swansea University.

Phil became a temporary clerical assistant at the university’s medical school soon after he graduated in history (and English!) from the university in 2001. He says he was successful in gaining his permanent job because of a combination of his knowledge of the school gained while temping, the organisational skills learnt during his degree and his customer service experience gained working in retail sales.

The programme Phil administers is four years of study for graduates who want to become doctors. He says: ‘I am lucky in that my job is extremely varied. In theory I administer the Graduate Entry Programme, but this has developed into overseeing many different aspects of the course, including marketing, admissions and organising social functions - along with looking after current and future students. I also act as office manager with the team and, together with my colleagues, ensure the programme runs smoothly and meets the programme specification, and that student concerns are addressed.’

Particular responsibilities range from seeing that the interview process for prospective student(s) is properly organised to writing and developing the website and brochure for the programme. Phil is about to gain an extended role for which he says ‘I am currently developing my team management skills as well as my knowledge of the university financial procedures.’

The wide-ranging responsibilities keep Phil on his toes ensuring everything is completed to deadline and no aspects are ignored: ‘This often means working several years ahead, which can make it difficult to remember what year it is.’

His efforts are rewarded, he says, ‘when I have seen potential candidates that I have spoken to possibly several years ago become applicants, come to interview and then join the programme.’

Being an effective university administrator is not, however, the limit of Phil’s ambitions. He is studying part-time for an MA in History. ‘I hope to go on to study a PhD and eventually go into lecturing in the field of modern history. In the meantime, I am committed to developing the programme and the team to ensure that everything runs smoothly as we increase the number of students coming through the programme. I hope I have the skills and patience to become an effective manager and leader.’

Punk Fest

I had a great idea this morning in Singleton Park - A Punk Festival.

We've got party in the park, proms in the park and Escape into the Park - but nothing for people with any taste.

I reckon it would be doable - get some cool British punk bands and maybe some US attractions, some newer bands and some local bands, it would be a great day.

So far I'm thinking The Damned, Anti-Nowhere League, UK Subs, Misfits (despite the shoddiness of their current line up) and them some locally sourced talent. Maybe I could get Alex to offer slots to all those weird bands he likes, and maybe even SOTB, although they would suck next to the League!

Anyone want to fund me?

As for names..... Cuntstock?

More ROTS figures

Commander Baccara, R2 D2 on Mustafar and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader on Mustafar (interchangeable limbs).

Begs the question - where is the Tarkin wave!!

Bruno and Jesus -- Porn Stars?

Despite the blurry, out of focus pictur of a stationary object, Bruno's claims seem a little boastful. Also, there weren't any trees nearby, so I am assuming the client requested "cherry picker in busy town centre" as her service location.

I a similar vein, the announcement on the church I walk past by Jesus (or his earthly representative "I will come again", was automatically suffixed in my mind with "or your money back"! What is the world coming to?

Talking of purile innuendo driven humour, the Bloodhound Gang are, bizarrely, playing Cardiff Uni! Bargain - getting the tickets tomorrow, and expect to be spayed by Alex shortly.
